Although Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis had appeared on the silver screen prior to At War with the Army, this film marks their debut in starring roles and sets the pattern for subsequent Martin & Lewis vehicles. Alvin Korwin (Lewis) and Vic Puccinelli (Martin) are best friends who join the Army during World War II. Alvin, a hopeless screw-up who cant even operate a soda machine properly, falls into one zany mishap after another while at training camp. Vic, on the other hand, is a self-assured ladies man who is quickly promoted to sergeant, becoming Alvins overbearing superior. Packed with side splitting slapstick comedy, madcap sight gags, and romantic crooning, this is Martin and Lewis at their best!
